Dankó is known for his propaganda posters which he designed in 1918 and 1920.
As a young artist, he designed two famous propaganda posters for the Hungarian Soviet Republic in 1919 (Be a Vörös Hadseregbe! - Join the Red Army!, and Védd meg a proletárok hatalmát! - Protect the power of the proletarians!).
In 1920 he designed irredentist propaganda posters against the Peace Treaty of Trianon and the territory loss that it occured.
He also made book illustrations, furniture- and interior designs. After 1945, he focused on illustrations for textbooks. .
