Description:

Original Hungarian vintage commercial poster from 1971 by Gyula Mayer for a toothpaste brand. The style of the composition reaches back to the 1910th when the so-called 'object poster' style came in fashion. The main idea of object posters (or Sachplakat) was to use the stylized depiction of the advertised product in front of a neutral background. The difference between this composition and the classic object poster from earlier times is that on the older pieces the subject was generally a plain image whereas on this poster the toothpaste (as well as the toothbrush) are solid elements.

The white brush and the text is almost glowing in front of the dark blue background. The toothpaste is lying on the toothbrush in its package, and the angle creates the impact as if the brush gently offered the product to the audience. The bright white parts make the viewer associate with the expected result of using Fluorita toothpaste: flawless, white teeth.
