'Snowball. Chamber Theatre of the Youth Theatre.'
This theatre poster has a very interesting deisgn, with colours that are rarely seen on posters, and a great composition depicting a dynamic boxing scene. There is minimal information on the poster. It is from 1953, when almost all posters were socialist realist designs (except for the fantastic export posters of the time), which makes it even more unique.
The creator of the poster was István Köpeczi-Bócz who had a versatile talent: he created posters, advertisements, illustrations, stamps, caricatures, stage designs. He worked in the Hungarian film and television industry, and as a goldsmith as well. In the field of poster art he created many designs, mainly for theatres and movies. He represented an own, lovely character in poster design, his works typically had a playful and humorous atmosphere. This piece is a good example of his own style.
