Horti Pál

1865 - 1907

Horti was an industrial designer in the beginning of the 20th century, pioneer of Art Nouveau interior design. He designed furniture, textiles, tapestries, etc. He was one of the greatest applied artist at the Art Noveau period in Hungary, working in almost every field of design.

Horti designed only a few posters, mostly for applied art exhibitions. They show his splendid Art Noveau style, mostly using decorative floral ornaments and beautiful female figures.

After achieving great success as a designer in Hungary, he moved to New York. He took field trips to Mexico, Japan and India, where he died at an early age.                                                                                                                                                     .
