Varga, Győző

1929 - 2015

Győző Varga was a graphic artist. He studied at both academies in the late 1940s. His masters were István Köpeczi-Bócz and György Kádár.

He started to work as a freelance graphic artist in the 1950s, designing posters and making illustrations. He prefers to use intensive brushwork on his painted compositions, strong contrasts and flat-like shapes. His works are often grotesque, humorous or dramatic. On some of his works he used refined, meticulous drawing. He also showed talent in typography and in the use of photo details and montages.                                                                                                                                             .
