Janos Torok was a graphic designer and caricature artist. He studied at the Academy of Applied Art in Budapest between 1926 and 1930. During the first years of his career he was working in the field of advertising art. He designed numerous book covers for Hungarian publishing companies, illustrations for newspapers and magazines. His caricatures started to appear in the early 1940s, published in legendary humor magazines, such as Ludas Matyi or Füles. He was a noted ex libris artist.
His posters evoke the humorous manner which is typical of his caricatures. He possessed outstanding drawing skills. He created a series of emblematic posters for the Salvus mineral water company.
