Kling György

1912 - 1991

Kling György was a painter and graphic designer.

He mostly designed posters in the 1930s, after finishing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was often working together with György Konecsni. Kling’s poster style is close to Konecsni’s, they both worked in an elegant, clear, classicist Art Deco style during the decade. Kling’s characteristic is the use of soft pastel colors.

Together with Konecsni, they often designed travel posters. Kling also created commercial posters for companies like Shell. After the Second World War, he seldom made poster designs. Despite the political change, his style remained nearly the same; in 1949 for example he designed one tourism poster advertising spas for the working people.                                                                                                                                           .
