Bánhidi Andor
1910 - 1964
Bánhidi started his career as poster designer and painter in the 1930’s. He worked in every field of applied graphics design.
Bánhegyi designed decorative Art Deco inspired travel posters in the 1930’s. After World War II, he followed the strict socialist realist style. He introduced the representation of Lenin, Stalin and Rákosi to Hungarian poster art, and he also used communist symbols on the posters of national holidays, like the statue of liberty in Buda. Between 1958 and 1964 he was the head of the Graphics Department at the Academy of Fine Arts. .
