Chy-Dér
Karoly Rohonyi or Charles Rohonyi and Alice Der were an artist couple. Karoly Rohonyi was initially a photographer and cinematographer. He later designed his first poster following the suggestion of his wife, Alice Dér, who studied graphic design in Álmos Jaschik’s famous private art school. When working together, they signed their posters as “Chy-Dér”. Their most famous posters were propaganda posters designed between 1945 and 1947. Their style is clear and compact, they used strong symbols. After 1948, Rohonyi left Hungary and moved to Belgium, and worked in advertising as a designer. .
