Jenő Pályi was a graphic artist, poster designer, caricaturist and card artist born in 1900, and his first drawings were published in the humorous magazine Szamár (Donkey) in 1917. He was not particularly prolific as a poster designer, only about 25 of his completed posters are known. His first printed posters date back to 1928, and after that his works appeared continuously on the streets during the 1930s. Only a few of his posters were published during the war years, and then a few more from 1946 until 1951. In addition to the posters, his caricatures, book illustrations and covers also made him well-known. From 1945 until his death in 1953, he was a collaborator of Ludas Matyi. He also made cards, card book covers and children's cards.
