Soós György
1953 -
Poster designer. He designed posters for the Hungarian underground music scene in the 1980s.
His and his graphic artist friends' intention was to bring the aesthetics of the Russian Constructivism of the 1920s back. Their works show the typical monumental worker figures. They used the emblematic colours of early Constructivism: red, black and white and modern constructivist typography. Despite the use of the formal characteristics, their approach for the Russian contructivism is very ironic and they express strong critics. Burned photography and the visual world of woodcuts also appear on their works. They were always very politically-minded, and expressed strong criticism towards the system.
Soós often made posters for bands and concerts, including the band named Art Deco, of which he was a member.
