First release Hungarian poster for The Shield and the Sword is a 1968 Soviet spy series with four parts directed by Vladimir Basov. It is based on a novel by Vadim Kozhevnikov, who was Secretary of the Soviet Writers' Union.the movie in Hungary.
The poster was made with photomontage technique. The essence of the composition is given by the contrast between the black background, the bright yellow, orange and purple circles on the sword that is placed on the center line of the poster. The photos of the characters of the movie are also black and white but the colourful parts make them stand out.
