Kass, János
Kass was a well-known graphic artist, with an instantly recognizable drawing style. He was active since the 1950s.
He was studying at the University of Applied Arts, in the illustrious class of György Konecsni, together with classmates like Darvas, Ernyei, Máté and Görög.
In the 1950s besides creating autonomous graphic works, he worked on movie posters.
He continued in the 1960s and 1970s, designing numerous posters, most often for films.
Kass is well known for his many great illustrations; the most famous is the series for Béla Bartók’s Bluebard’s castle. His brilliant drawing dominates his works, which are very expressive compositions with secure elegant lines and strong colors. His posters demonstrate the same qualities, the fine and meticulous drawing. .
