Molnár Kálmán
1943 - 2017
Kálmán Molnár was a graphic designer and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts.
He finished his studies under the supervision of György Konecsni in 1967, then he started to work as a graphic designer. He was a founding member of several artist groups, such as Quintett and Perspektíva, which were regularly organizing poster exhibitions. He worked on exhibition designs of big fairs and exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. He created illustrations, logos, posters, and other types of advertising. He mostly designed movie posters. He primarily used meticulous drawing, and created several outstanding posters, including the poster for Planet of the Apes. Many of his works are very decorative modern compositions in the style of the 1970s (such as MAHART).
Since 1990 he has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Art. In 1992 he was appointed the head of the Applied Graphic Design Institute. .
