Description:
It is a 1970 original vintage Hungarian advertising poster for the Jozsef Egry Memorial Museum in Badacsony. The poster shows one of the paintings of the artist.
Egry was a painter, an important representative of Hungarian modernism, active in the first half of the 20th century. He is famous for his landscapes that he painted mainly of Lake Balaton. He had a special dreamlike style, with which he was able to create intensive atmospheric effects. His focus was on the studying and reproducing the effects of light.
He designed a few posters for cultural events in the 1910’s. His poster style seems to be close to the drawing style of the avant-garde artist group Nyolcak (The Eight).
