Finta József
Finta was an advertising photographer and poster designer active during the 1960’s and 1970’s. He was a pioneer use of overexposed black and white photography, which was called “burnt” photography.
Finta was originally an amateur nature photographer, when the painter Károly Koffán discovered his talent. Finta could successfully combine the overexposed photographs to create meticulous photomontage compositions, which drew on the Op Art style. His posters designs usually consist of overexposed black and white photo elements, with strong black and white contrasts, which he uses to create a montage. This is combined with a large single coloured background (black, white, red, orange, green), and the typographical elements. Many poster artists adopted this technique during the 1960s and it became one of the leading trends of the decade.
Finta later switched to using coloured photos and created a unique poster series for Medimpex, in which he used his self-made surrealistic objects. In 1963, he became member of the Papp-group and took part at their exhibitions. .
