Bognár Árpád
1931 - 2004
Arpad Bognar
Bognár started to work as poster artist in the 1950’s. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, under Geza Fonyi, Sandor Ek and Gyorgy Konecsni.
He made designs in the expressive poster style that was typical of the period. His style was unique, he used a blend of line drawing and deliquescent, splashed watercolor. The colors seem often to flow on the surface.
He mostly worked for the Hungarian film trading company MOKÉP, creating many movie posters. However he also designed commercial and travel posters. His works are spontaneous, associative, and surrealistic. Bognár was also active as painter and illustrator. . .
