Description:

The poster was made in the year when the socialist-realist style started to prevailing. It is a rare piece from the treshold between the years of great artistic freedom and quality after World War II and the forst years of the Socialist era. The graphic design shows that it was created before the artists forcibly and uniformly adapted the socialist realist manner. This piece is playful, has stylized elements, projects a strong atmosphere associated with the product. These traits were all lacking in socialist-realist pieces where characters and settings were idealized, and were depicted in a monumental, realistic manner. Howevever, the text reveals that it was made when the Socialist party was ruling as it was promoting a product by the Nationalized Convinience Food Industry. It wasn't until the socialist era when industries (among everything else) were nationalized.

The advertisement shows a scene in the classroom what is a clear statement about the target group. The author of the composition also incorporated rhymes in the text to make it more memorable and catchy for the audience. In Hungarian it is as follows: A vegyes gyümölcsíz táplál frissít erősít (Mixed flavour jam nurtures, freshens, strengthens) Csudajó lehet, 60 fillér egy tíz dekás szelet (It must be fantastic, a slice costs only 60 pennies). The three sentences create a short rhyme and at the same time  sum up the main attributes of the advertised product: it provides everything a child need for proper physical development, it's delicious and cheap.
