The Three Year Plan was the first economic plan in Hungary based on the Soviet model. The goal of the plan was to support and speed up the economic and cultural growth of the country while stabilizing democracy as well as the living standard of the people. In 1949 the Hungarian Worker's Party declared that the Three Year Plan was the plan of recovering Hungary from the damages it suffered in World War II. In reality the Three Year Plan did not last longer than 2 and a half years.
