Description:

Original vintage election propaganda from 1947 resembles a voting paper.

Size: cca. 11 x 15 when folded in half.

This propaganda material was printed for the infamous blue-ballot election held in 1947, 31st of August. The blue ballot voting papers allowed people to vote away from their homes. Exploiting this possibility, the Communist Party distributed blue ballots among their people, who voted for them at different places, more than once. Despite the alteration of the voting rights, the blue ballots and other frauds by the Communist Party to win the elections, they didn't manage to get the majority of the mandates. However, at the time the real power didn't go to the Party that practically won the election. This piece is not the actual ballot, but propaganda material that was sent to voters. The front page is blank, the name of the voter was to be written there. Inside, the 10 participating parties are listed and a thick arrow points to the Hungarian Communist Party. Above the arrow the text says: put your 'X' here. The back side tells where the voter could vote and that the voter should vote according to the instructions on this material.
