Description:

Poster to popularize bitter water. Bitter water is a natural cure for constipation, a purgative liquid. It was discovered in the middle of the 19th century and became very popular quite quickly.

This playful design depicts a man who is putting a red label on a giant green bottle. The label say: with half a cup each morning. The text on the bottle tells that it is a bottle of bitter water. On this composition the bottle symbolizes an advertising pillar and the red label is the poster. The man has the outfit worn by the workers who are responsible for placing the posters on the pillars and he has all the necessary equipment. This kind design immediately catches attention thanks to the dynamic lines, the cartoon-like funny character and the  nicely drawn design in front of a white background. The main colours used on the poster are red white and green which are the national colours of Hungary. This might allude to the fact that bitter water and its positive medical effects were discovered by a Hungarian man András Saxlehner.
