Description:
Poster for promoting the interview book of István Pintér and László Szabó titled 'The Hangmans Speak'.
The book introduces the Nazi leaders who actively took part in ruling Hungary during the German occupation (18-19. March 1944 - 13. April 1945). There was no litigation against the majority of these leaders even though most of these people took part in defeating Hungary's attempt to quit World War II or in exploiting the country. During Socialism literature with this or similar subject was very common because it was a great tool in the hands of the government for demonstrating that they saved Hungary from the Nazis. In those times the Soviet occupation was not allowed to be called occupation but people had to call it a liberation. It was true in a way, since the Soviets liberated the country from the Nazis, but then they stayed in Hungary for more than 40 years which rather made the situation an occupation.
The poster is identical to the cover of the book it promotes. In the middle there is the head of an SS soldier. On the top the title of the book is written, below the image the authors and on the bottom the text says: the book is out now!
