Poster for the 200th anniversary of lottery in Hungary. Size: 38.5 x 26.5 cm.

The very first lottery draw took place in 1620 in Genova and by 1750 almost all Italy was playing lottery. The draws were organized by the state. The 5/90 lottery was introduced in Hungary in 1763 but it was only in 1770 when lottery was played in the whole territory of the country (including Transylvania and the parts which do not belong to Hungary anymore). This is the year what is marked on the poster and this is why they cosidered 1970 to be the 200th anniversary of lottery, even though lottery as we play it today was first played in 1957.

The poster evokes the artmosphere of the 18th century with its colours, typography and the outfit of the lady. According to it, in order to properly celebrate the event the participants had two chances to win. On the first occasion - on the 11th of September - a draw in the style of the 1770s took place and three days later other prizes were drawn. The main prize was an apartment on the Buda side or a car. In addition, trips to the cities of old lottery draws could be won.
