Tram poster (cca. 24 x 17 cm)
Paper, offset lithography.
Humorous commercial poster from the 1960s. It was created by László Káldor who is mostly known for his funny and caricaturistic designs. The composition shows a man not being able to decide which cigarette he should chose - Turist or Daru. The text below the boxes say: which one should I like. He is squinting and looking mesmerized on the boxes.
The design is very lovely. A few decades ago there were no ethical concerns or legal regulations in relation with advertising smoking products. The cigarette packs represent the advertised brands. The designer,László Káldor is easily recognizable by the caricaturistic design. This poster was born a few years after another piece for the Turist and Daru cigarette brands which is also a very typical work of the artist.
