Tibor Jakfalvy was an important posterist from the late 1950s. He is mostly known for his movie posters - although he designed posters for other subjects as well -, as he was an important member of the group of artists who revolutionized Hungarian poster art from 1956 after the years of the obligatory socialist realist style. Using numerous techniques, which included colorful paper cut, photomontage, painting and drawing, the majority of his movie poster output was created between 1958 and 1966. He was a versatile artist, who also designed a large number of decorative and humorous work safety posters during the 1960s and 1970s.
